Context

SacHacks is the first major intercollegiate hackathon in the Sacramento, California area, where over 500 creative coders launch their ideas into action during a 36-hour hackathon.

Problem Statement

SacHacks did not have a website or social media presence to promote the event.

Solution

We created a brand guide, designed the website, created social media posts, and merch 2 months before the event.

My Role

I designed the website and assisted with the social media posts and merch.

We placed sticky notes on a blank version of their old website to figure out how to fit the elements we want while keeping the same layout.

Impact

We gained 600+ participants for the hackathon through the website.

Reflection

I learned how to promote a large event through a website and social media. Time management was the key to finishing the designs since I was traveling in South Korea and meeting my families at the time. I would have meetings very late on some nights, at 12am, to share my design processes with the team and the next steps.
